7 places to fear – Halloween in Malaga 2023
Malaga is indeed a big city. So much so, that Halloween in Malaga is not one big event, but many public or mixed ones. On top of this, several private entities (from this world and others) have also prepared special celebrations for the spookiest time of the year. Let’s see 7 of the most traditional and fearful events to make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.
For more disinformation, I’ve added links to the promotion of each event (mostly in Spanish). A set of perfect reads for a dark night, alone. I’ve been mischievouly kind enough to also add links to each train station mentioned on how to get there, so that you don’t go losing you head on the way. Did you hear that noise? I think it came from right behind you…
Polloween Horror Fest 2023
On October 27 we start our warmup to Halloween in the Polo Digital de Malaga, with virtual reality, video games and a festival of short horror movies. Why Polloween, though, if there is no chicken (pollo, in Spanish) involved? Well, who said there isn’t? I guess we’ll have to find out…
Watch below their own short movie promoting the event. It’s for the 2021 edition, but still very valid today:
This year is the 3rd edition of Polloween, and this is the program:
10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00 – Horror Video Game Showroom.
10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00 – Fantastic Makeup Workshop, carried out by students from the Antonio Eloy Makeup and Hairdressing Professional Academy.
17:00 to 19:00 – Horror Writing Workshop: how to play with fear, taught by Marina B Journal.
19:30 to 19:45 – Catwalk horror makeup parade with models from the Nueva Moda agency, with makeup and hair from Antonio Eloy Escuela Profesional.
20:00 to 21:00 – Horror Short Film Festival, with the screening of the 6 finalist short films.
21:00 to 22:00 – Rock and Terror with DJ Oliver & Awards Ceremony.
You can also enjoy an immersive viewing experience of the short films selected in the Official Section in Cinema Metaverso. The event is open to the public and does not require booking!

Trick or treat!!!! From 17:30 to 21:30 (or while it lasts) the shops at Muelle Uno will distribute 900 kg of sweets, and from 20:00, a whitch band will play to entertain the area – and help spend all that energy! Another cool thing going on is that, if you need an extra, final touch to your costume, you may find it at Muelle Uno, as the shops will be open, as well as the open air market. 😉
It will be a Halloween ‘to lose one’s head’. That is because they have installed a photobooth shaped like a guillotine where people can get unforgettable pictures of the occasion. You can lose your’s here!
How to get there
Train to Malaga Centro Alameda and a 20 minutes easy walk to Muelle Uno. You can even see pictures of this route in the post about this station 😉

Earlier than most other parties, from 17:00 to 20:00, this one can be enjoyed before going on to the next event. And considering there will be workshops of horror make up and even hair locks dying, it is at the same time fun and preparation!
