Holy Week in Fuengirola 2024

Holy Week in Fuengirola 2024 will have several religious events, promoted by 4 brotherhoods – Passion Brotherhood, Brotherhood of the Recumbent Christ, Brotherhood of Jesus Captive and Fusionada Brotherhood. The religious brotherhoods will each parade their main thrones – large and heavy sacred images sculpted in wood, depicting different passages of Christ’s life – in processions through the city, in different days and following different routes, which we will see below, in the translation of the program issued in Spanish by the Ayuntamiento de Fuengirola.

Besides the processions, the brotherhoods will also do the transfer (traslado) of their thrones from the brotherhood or church where they normally stay to the starting point of their respective procession. The four main churches of the town – Our Lady of the Rosary, Virgin del Carmen and Santa Fe de los Boliches, Our Lady of Carmen and San José – will also participate in the Semana Santa, with parochial acts, such as masses, eucharists and vigils. On top of it all, Churches, Brotherhoods and the Town Hall have also prepared workshops and other activities as part of the Holy Week commemoration.

Therefore, the events described in Fuengirola’s Holy Week program can be divided in four:
🚶 Transfers of the thrones that will take central stage during a procession;
✨ Processions, the main events during Holy Week;
⛪ Parochial acts, such as masses and blessings and
🤹 Other Activities, such as workshops.

I’ve used the emoji symbols throughout the translation of the program to make it easier to identify each type of event.
