Costa del Sol Valentine’s Day lasts for about a week – like many important dates of the year. The date is not observed as much as in other parts of the world, but it seems to be growing in the hearts of the Costa del Sol. In 2024, the towns have each come up with their own ways to commemorate the Día de San Valentín (Valentine’s Day). Let’s see some of them:

Torremolinos Valentine’s
From February 5 to 19, 2024
Torremolinos spread several “Photocalls”, which are installations such as the one shown below, in different parts of the city, so that people in love can take a beautiful picture. The city asks that those pictures point @torremolinoscultura with the hashtag #torremolinosenamora when posted online. The Avilés sisters will play songs that have marked their lives and perform their own compositions, that mix pop with flamenco.
Benalmadena Valentine’s
Benalmadena did something similar to Torremolinos, in a way. They also spread installations around the city, where people can take a romantic picture or video and hashtag the town, this time with the hashtag #enamoradosenbenalmadena and mention to @acebbenalmadena (the commerce association of Benalmadena). The pictures and videos with more likes get prizes!
– For the most voted picture: boat cruise, lunch and 1 night in the Hostal Sol y Miel (all for two people)
– For the most voted video: entrance to Sea Life, ticket for the City Sightseeing bus and an esthetic treatment (all for two people)
The competition goes on until Sunday, February 18, 2024.
Saturday, February 17
At 5:00pm in the Plaza de Andalucia, in Benalmadena Pueblo, there will be a 250 kg, 12 meters long cake!
The idea is too colect money for 3 beneficient associations: Cudeca, Neurodiverso and ELAAndalucia. The local bakeries joined forces in solidarity to make this happen.
Fuengirola Valentine’s
Yes, I did save the best for last on purpose… Fuengirola went big with its celebration of Valentine’s Day in 2024! The city released a whole week-long program around love. You can find our translation of the program to English, as well as the directions for the venues where the events will take place in our post called Carnival in Fuengirola 2024 ❤️with love❤️.
Fuengirola is by far the most romantic city this Valentine’s. They will have a lover’s party on the 14th, a poetry recital on the 15th, a musical show on the park, which I suspect will be for kids – because, remember, in Spain, the day of San Valentín is also a day of friendship – several more dance and music shows and even a parade of love on the 16th!
But that is not all – that’s not half! Imagine, even Qi-gong as a couple is in the program; there is Pilates, too! And it closes with Perrock, on the 18th, a Rock’n’roll party to benefit animal associations of Fuengirola – because pets are lovely and friendly. 🙂
